PRUAIP - Catherine Street

Project address: Catherine St between Parramatta Rd and 25 Catherine St, Leichhardt
Project Description: Design & construction for public domain improvements to Catherine St, Leichhardt perpendicular to Parramatta Road.

Streetscape improvements include improved stormwater drainage, lifting and replacing cracked and uneven footpath pavements, new street tree planting, understory mass planting, and new street furniture. This providing a safer surface for walking and so engendering a sense of pride in the appearance of the public domain

Other works include:

- Improved cycling facilities

- Underground electricity

- New Multifunction Poles & lights

- New Traffic Control Signals

Progress:

The Ausgrid outage for Catherine St that was scheduled for 18/11/21 has been cancelled by Ausgrid.
Council’s ASP1 contractor was informed on the day by Ausgrid that the outage would need to be cancelled due to an Ausgrid network fault in the existing Ausgrid system.

Council can confirm that the new underground network installed has been completed in accordance with the approved Ausgrid design, and that the issue wholly resides with an error in Ausgrid’s existing network.

Ausgrid have advised that a new power outage can only be rescheduled once the fault in the existing network is corrected.

Ausgrid have not provided a date for rectification.

The Ausgrid Electrical Cutover has been completed.

- The project is delayed due to;

- the COVID shutdown

- extended delays by TfNSW in approving the traffic Lights at Parramatta Rd.

- Ausgrid Industrial Action and network issues

- Construction is planned to be completed by Nov 2022 (subject to COVID-19 restrictions, and TfNSW )

- No works are scheduled until the traffic signals are approved.
