University

There are limited spots available for University Industry Placement at Inner West Libraries. Requests should come directly from your university faculty and not from students directly.

There are limited spots available for TAFE Industry Placement at Inner West Libraries. Requests should come directly from your TAFE Industry Placement Coordinator or faculty member. Students should not contact the library directly.

Duke of Edinburgh

Duke of Edinburgh Volunteering

Inner West Libraries supports high school students completing the ‘Voluntary Service’ component of their Duke of Edinburgh Award.

  • Now taking applications for 2024.
  • Duke of Edinburgh Volunteer – General All spots for general volunteering are currently filled and new applicants will be contacted from May to commence later in 2024.
  • Duke of Edinburgh Volunteer – Teen Tech Tutors applicants will be contacted as places become available for Term 2, Term 3 and Term 4.

Opportunities

Duke of Edinburgh Volunteer - Teen Tech Tutors

Get involved in our libraries by joining Teen Tech Tutors, our new intergenerational technology program.

Over weekly one-hour sessions during the school term, you will support members of the public with their technology questions and empower older internet users to stay connected with their loved ones.

Teen Tech Tutors is run at set locations on specific dates and times during school term and students must be available during these times to participate:

  • Ashfield Library: Mondays, 4.15pm-5.15pm
  • Marrickville Library: Thursdays 4.15pm-5.15pm

Places are limited.

Duke of Edinburgh Volunteer - General

This role may include assisting with general library duties such as shelving items, shelf tidying, collating library resources, assisting with preparation for library programs and folding library paraphernalia.

There are limited spaces available for General duties at Ashfield, Balmain, Leichhardt, and Marrickville Libraries Monday – Friday during school term.

Before you apply

Applicants should:

  • Be enrolled in the Duke of Edinburgh Program
  • Have an Award Leader
  • Successful applicants will need parent/guardian permission
  • Liaise with the Inner West Libraries assessor directly and not have a third party do so on their behalf
