New acting General Manager for Inner West

Brian Barrett has been appointed acting General Manager of Inner West Council.

Mr Barrett is a former General Manager of Marrickville Council (2013-16) where he was also Director of Corporate Services (2003-2013).

More recently, Mr Barrett has acted in senior roles in local government in New South Wales and interstate, including Parramatta, King Island, Derwent Valley and Murray River councils.

Mr Barrett specialises in restoring equilibrium to local government entities that are going through times of change.

Mt Barrett is a responsive and innovative leader with extensive government experience and knowledge. He is also a CPA with qualifications in Accounting and Law.

Mr Barrett has a strong commitment to enabling elected councils to deliver the infrastructure and services needed by the communities they represent through effective planning and communication.

“I particularly look forward to working with the talented staff at Inner West,” he said.

“I am very proud to have the opportunity to lead them through the challenges before us,” he added.
