Free Go Solar Session

Tuesday, 19 June 2019

As part of its commitment to sourcing renewable energy and addressing climate change*, Council is offering a free Go Solar Session for residents.

Solar experts will explain how to take the next steps towards installing solar at homes or businesses.

More than 4,000 residents in the Inner West have already made the switch to solar and saved money on their electricity bills.

This event is hosted by the Green Living Centre and will give attendees the chance to calculate their energy needs, identify if there will be sufficient sunlight on their roof, what system they would need and what it might cost, ask a heritage expert questions, learn about batteries and hot water systems and about finding a reputable contractor to install their system.

The experts are:

  • Massimo Granata, energy consultant at the Green Living Centre
  • Adam Corrigan, founder of Your Energy Friend, consultant to Our Energy Future
  • Utkarshaa Varshney, PhD candidate, UNSW Photovoltaic & Renewable Energy Engineering

The evening is at Petersham Bowling Club, winner of the Sustainable Innovation Award in the 2018 Inner West Business Environment Awards.

This is a free event with free pizza during the session.

*Council has continued toward its goal of being 100 per cent renewable energy reliant by 2025 after installing new solar panels on the Petersham Town Hall, which will save around 15 tonnes of carbon every year as well as reduce electricity costs.

The new array brings Council to over 30 buildings with solar panels, with more on the way.
