Entries now open for the 2019 GreenWay Art Prize

Entries now open for the 2019 GreenWay Art Prize. The prize is now in its tenth year.

The GreenWay Art Prize aims to capture the essence of the Cooks River to Iron Cove GreenWay through visual art and invites entries across a range of media including painting, sculpture and photography.

Artists are invited to submit works that capture the qualities of the GreenWay and celebrate the urban environment, sustainable transport and community connections.

Prizes include:

• GreenWay Open Art Prize with a prize package valued at $6,000

• GreenWay Local Artist Prize valued at $1,500 open to all artists living within the Inner West or City of Canterbury-Bankstown areas

• Cooks River Small Sculpture Prize valued at $2,000

• GreenWay Community Photography Prize Adult and Youth totalling $1,100

• Derivan People’s Choice Award: $500 worth of Derivan Matisse art supplies

Prize winners will be announced at the opening night of the GreenWay Art Exhibition to be held on Thursday, 31 October at Art Est. Art School and Gallery, Lords Road Leichhardt.

Selected works will then be exhibited as part of a touring exhibition starting at Art Est. Art School (31 October-19 November 2019), before travelling to Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design’s Seaview Gallery, (24-30 November 2019) and Bankstown Arts Centre (14 December-30 January 2020).

Judges are Commissioner Open Space and Parklands at Department of Planning, Industry and Environment Fiona Morrison, visual artist Michael Snape and Director at Parramatta Artists Studios Sophia Kouyoumdjian.

Event sponsors are Inner West Council, City of Canterbury Bankstown, Art Est. Art School and Gallery, Cooks River Alliance, Petersham Bowling Club, Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design and Derivan, maker of fine artist materials.
