Upgrade Works to Commence on Ashfield Commuter Car Park

Work to provide an extra 99 parking spaces for Ashfield commuters is set to begin, with the Brown Street commuter car park to be upgraded.

Transport for NSW has confirmed that works on a new multi-storey car park at the existing Brown Street commuter car park will commence on 22 May 2017.

The Brown Street car park at Ashfield will be closed for approximately 10 months while works are underway.

• The current car park will be upgraded to feature approximately 235 car spaces.

• The existing ground level car park along Orchard Crescent will be extended by two levels, and a partial third level will be constructed above the car park adjacent to the rail corridor.

• A new lift and stairs will provide access to all levels of the car park, and new lighting, CCTV and signage will be installed.

Council has contacted Transport for NSW with a request to also incorporate a public toilet in the new car park in order to satisfy the urgent need for one in the Ashfield Town Centre.

Current car park users are advised to consider alternate public transport options or parking at nearby stations during the construction period of the car park, which begins 22 May 2017.

Information on bus services that service Ashfield Station from surrounding areas can be found at the Transport Info website www.transportfornsw.info or by calling 131 500.
