Bairro Português Food & Wine Fair

Inner West Council’s Bairro Português Petersham Food & Wine Fair is on once again.

Since its inception in 2003, every year thousands of people attend Australia’s largest Portuguese cultural fair.

Petersham transforms into a showcase of all thing Portuguese. Audley and Fisher Streets fill with the smoky aromas of chargrilled and barbecued Mediterranean foods, while crowds sample Australian and imported wines, beer and sangria.

Chorizo rolls, paella, garlic prawns, salsas, grilled sardines and sweet treats like Portuguese donuts (malasadas), Portuguese tarts (Pastel de nata), churros, and sweet pumpkin treats known as filhozes are just some of the foods that will be on offer.

Event-goers can feast their eyes as well. The fair features plenty of traditional and contemporary dancing, live music, plus other entertainment.

Come and experience Portuguese culture in your own backyard.

The 14th annual Bairro Português Petersham Food & Wine Fair is along Audley and Fisher streets in Petersham on Sunday 12 March, 10am – 6pm.
