Applications now open for 2018 Perfect Match

Tuesday 19 December 2017

Inner West Council’s Perfect Match is back in 2018 and applications are now open.

Last year, 52 inner west property owners and 72 artists applied.

From small beginnings, Perfect Match has grown to become Australia’s best-known and most-loved public art and graffiti prevention program.

Perfect Match has contributed to the inner west being identified as Sydney’s street art capital.

As well, the Perfect Match model is recognised as highly effective in deterring unwanted tagging while at the same time contributing to a public art collection for all to enjoy.

Perfect Match culminates in a celebration weekend where all the new artworks are unveiled. The weekend features free walking, cycling and bus street art tours.

The astounding success of Perfect Match is reflected in a Council decision earlier this year to invest additional resources to extend the program, and address planning restrictions homeowners and businesses face if they want to enhance their premises with public art.

With this extension of Perfect Match, many more property owners are able to participate this year.

Applications close Thursday 8 March 5pm. Go to Perfect Match

Artists and sites will be shortlisted in mid-March. In April, property owners will see the ideas submitted by artists, who will be confirmed later that month.

In late May, the developed artworks will go through a feedback process, before final design and approval.

During July and August, the artworks will be installed. The Perfect Match weekend of unveilings, tours, and community celebrations will be held between Friday 3 to Sunday 5 August 2018.
