New Art at Newtown’s ArtSeat by Joel Tarling

Thursday 3 February 2022

The latest ArtSeat is a bird’s eye view of Enmore Road from the top of Saray Turkish pizza.

The work, by Joel Tarling, “depicts an actual tree growing out the top of Saray Turkish pizza.

“Inner West trees are vital to Inner West life. They make our community what it is, wild and diverse,” Joel said.

Council’s ArtSeat is a permanent structure in Newtown Square that provides local, emerging and established artists with a space where experimental and non-commercial art can be showcased.

Incorporating public seating and lighting, the ArtSeat is also a landmark meeting point.

“With so many great artists in our community I feel honoured to have been selected for the ArtSeat and have my artwork on display in the heart of Newtown at Newtown Square,” Joel said.

“I also think it’s wonderful that Inner West Council values the arts and creates these opportunities to showcase the great variety of creative expression which is part of our community,” he said.
