Operation Trance - keeping the community safe

Wednesday 13 April 2022

Officers from Leichhardt Highway Patrol joined Council staff to conduct a proactive pedestrian and cyclist safety campaign, Operation Trance, on Tuesday 12 April.

Police in high visibility vests and staff handed out free reusable carry bags, flyers and discussed road safety.

Council is reminding everyone to take an extra moment to always look out before stepping out onto the road, to avoid risks and stay safe over the Easter holidays.

Council’s Look Out Before You Step Out campaign supports the State Governments vision of ‘Towards Zero’ - zero deaths and serious injuries on NSW roads.

Each year on NSW roads, around 50 pedestrians are killed and over 1,000 are hospitalised.

Footpath stencils and bus shelter advertising are used to prompt pedestrians to make safe decisions when crossing the road.
