Community Recycling Centres are open

Inner West CRCs are open, however, aerosols and embedded batteries are still not accepted.

Please hold on to your embedded battery items until the trial can recommence.

Do not place embedded batteries in household bins as they are a serious fire hazard.

Council operates a weekend transfer station for the disposal of waste and recycling of Inner West Council residents. Proof of residence is required 

Items you can drop for free 

All items need to be in piles according to these categories, do not mix categories. Council's accepted load is 1 cubic metre. More than 1 cubic will incur additional costs.

  • Mattresses - Single or double
  • Broken TVs and computers (including monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, mouse)
  • Whitegoods and metals 
  • Garden organics
  • Recyclables, have to be in separate piles/bags
    • paper/cardboard
    • bottles/containers

Items you can drop and have to pay for 

  • Bulky waste - Items that you would place out for clean-up e.g. broken and damaged furniture, rugs etc. NOT items you place in your red-lid garbage bin, e.g. food waste, nappies etc.
  • Mixed waste, e.g. garden organics with recyclables
