Clarification: Off leash dog areas in Callan Park

Tuesday, 21 May 2019

Signs requiring dogs to be on leash at the site have been installed by the Office of Environment and Heritage and not Inner West Council.

The State Government, as the owner of Callan Park, has the responsibility for dog off and on leash issues at Callan Park under the Greater Sydney Parkland Authority.

Council has care, control and management of the three sporting grounds in Callan Park at Balmain Road, Glover Street and Waterfront Drive which are available for dogs to be off leash when there are no sporting events or event bookings by Council.

A number of Council-controlled areas nearby are also available for off leash walking including parts of Leichhardt Park, King George Park and Hawthorne Canal Reserve.

The Inner West Council calls on the State Government to consult with the local community about off leash arrangements in the Park.
