Celebrate 2044 shines in Tempe for 6th year

Celebrate 2044 – St Peters, Sydenham and Tempe's own community fair – is in Tillman Park, Tempe on Sunday 20 May, from 11am to 4pm.

Heading into its sixth year, the Fair celebrates the local area with a relaxed picnic style event on the Green.

Held in partnership with the local community, businesses and schools, the event will feature entertainment, local produce and activities for the whole family.

From relatively small beginnings - 400 attended the inaugural event in 2013, Council expects between 1,000 and 3,000 locals to browse the stalls, taste the range of food on offer, and enjoy the free activities and music.

Entertainment this year includes music from year 11 students at Tempe High School and the 2044 Band, along with The Majestic Players from the Majestic Performing Arts Academy and Next Move Dance.

Other live music on the stage will include local bands, The Duke Flames and Toot, as well as inner west girls’ band, led by Tabetha Salmon.

Kids will enjoy the native Australian wildlife display, free face painting and airbrush tattoos, jumping castle and garden games including three-legged races, sack races, tug-o-war, and a variety of others.

There will be demonstrations by Sydney Self Defence and NSW Fire & Rescue with Dog Logic putting their pooches through their paces in the Activities area.

Food and beverages will be provided by Porky Chick, Yan’s Asian Catering and Authentic Turkish Gozleme. Dolce Bacio gelato will satisfy those with a sweet tooth along with Jump n Wiggle who will be offering fairy floss, popcorn, snow cones, lemonade and coffee.

Willie the Boatman will be on site for those who would like to enjoy a home grown beer with their lunch.
