A pop-up Inner West Museum of Rugby League will open this winter in the old caretaker's cottage on Mary Street across from Leichhardt Oval.
The exhibition will celebrate the Inner West’s pivotal role in the birth, growth and evolution of rugby league and honour the game’s rich local history.
A permanent museum will open in 2028 in conjunction with the renovated Leichhardt Oval.

As part of the display in the cottage this season we will have a unique Story Wall where these stories will be curated and featured.
Storybox
A visually stunning Storybox installation will be in front of the cottage until the end of October. The Storybox is a two-metre cube with video walls featuring an everchanging visual display of some of the video and stills content we’ve already gathered for the museum.
Opening times
The cottage will be open on Leichhardt Oval rugby league game days from April to October 2026 for fans to get a sneak peek at the collection so far and what the Inner West Museum of Rugby League will eventually become.
