Book pool hoist and water‑wheelchair access at our Aquatic Centres for a smoother, fully supported and accessible swimming experience.

Bookings are available at our Aquatic Centres for pool hoist and water wheelchairs. Bookings are not required, however this option is available to ensure that you enjoy an enhanced customer experience at our centres. 

Once you have made your booking, you can present yourself to our reception team at the centre who will ensure everything has been organised to assist you into the water. Bookings are only required for the time you wish to enter the water, our lifeguards will be ready to assist you whenever you would like to end your swim. 

For same day bookings please call the centre prior to your visit on 9392 5400.

Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre (AKAC)

AKAC access assistance bookings

Marked mobility parking spaces are available on Black Street adjacent to AKAC. The centre includes the following accessibility features:

  • Accessible entrance
  • Access ramps in both the 50m pool and program pool
  • Water wheelchairs are available for use
  • Our 50m pool includes a hoist to assist entry to the water
  • Accessible change rooms throughout the centre
  • Automatic doors for entry to the centre and the pools
  • Multi-use family and accessible change rooms fitted with duress alarms
  • Lift to access gym facilities
  • Wheel chair accessible resistance and cardio equipment

Ashfield Aquatic Centre (AAC)

AAC access assistance bookings

Marked mobility parking spaces are available in both car parks, accessed from Elizabeth Street. The centre includes the following accessibility features:

  • Accessible entrance
  • Access ramps in both the 50m pool and indoor program pool
  • Water wheelchairs are available for use
  • Pool hoists for the indoor program pool, spa pool, outdoor 50m pool and outdoor program pool (please note these hoists must be moved into position prior to use by staff, we highly recommend booking in advance)
  • Accessible change rooms throughout the centre
  • Automatic doors for entry to the centre and the pools
  • Lift to access gym facilities
  • Hearing loop

Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre (LPAC)

LPAC access assistance bookings

Marked mobility parking spaces are available at the front of the centre on Mary Street. The centre includes the following accessibility features:

  • Accessible ramp entrance
  • Access ramps in the hydrotherapy pool
  • Water wheelchairs are available for use
  • Pool hoist
  • Accessible change rooms throughout the centre
  • Lift from gym to pool level
  • Automatic doors at gym and pool entrances

Dawn Fraser Baths (DFB)

Dawn Fraser Baths is a tidal harbour baths located at the end of Fitzroy Avenue in Balmain. The main access point is via the stairs in Elkington Park but there is also a steep road that allows for car access down to water level for those with mobility issues within the Fitzroy Avenue Reserve.  

At water level there two dedicated disability parking spots available located within Fitzroy Avenue Reserve (please see map below). From this point it is approximately 60m to the front entrance on mostly flat ground.

Access into the water is via stairs or ladders, the number of steps required to enter the water varies upon the tide.

Fanny Durack Aquatic Centre (FDAC)

Marked mobility parking space is available on Station Street at the entrance to Petersham Park. The centre includes the following accessibility features:

  • Accessible ramp entrance
  • Access ramps in the 25m pool
  • Water wheelchairs are available for use
  • Pool hoist
  • Accessible change room
