What have we completed in this area?
The upgrades in the area from Waratah Mills light rail station to Johnson Park include:
- A new tunnel under Davis Street, Dulwich Hill
- A boardwalk from the Davis Street tunnel to Johnson Park along the light rail corridor
- Installation of new solar smart path lights
- Public art in tunnel
- Wayfinding signage
- Upgrade of drainage at Terry Road
Construction progress and photos
The construction method for the new pedestrian and cycling tunnel under Davis Street is a ‘top-down’ construction method, that requires specialised equipment and includes about 85 piles. The piling is complete, the concrete has been poured for the tunnel roof, the waterproofing is installed, the asphalt has been put in place, the line marking completed, and the bridge re-opened on 17 October, approximately six months after closure. The tunnel was then excavated from underneath.
