Suspension forms must be submitted in writing 2 weeks in advance of the requested period of suspension.

31. Payment of Fees and Direct Debit

31.1 Payment is made by fortnightly direct debit.
31.2 Direct debit can be made from a bank account or credit card and will occur fortnightly. Payments are made two weeks in advance. The first class(s) of the enrolment are required to be paid in advance at the time of the enrolment; this pro rata is based on the next Direct Debit payment. If a scheduled payment day falls on a public holiday, we will debit your account on the next business day. Depending on your bank, payments may take up to 5 business days to be processed. Upon accepting the Debit Success Terms and Conditions the member is agreeing to pay the instalment amount at the agreed payment frequency until the swim lesson membership is formally suspended or cancelled. There is a 7-day cooling off period from the time of enrolment for this membership option.
31.3 Swim School will apply fees associated with the activities offered at the centre as part of gazetted fees and charges. Council sets its fees and charges annually; direct debit fees will increase accordingly on or after 1 July each financial year. By accepting the Debit Success terms and conditions the member is agreeing to all Terms and Conditions.
31.4 All information relating to members financial institutions remains confidential, in line with Inner West Council’s privacy policy.
31.5 The member is responsible for:
31.5.1 Ensuring the nominated account is set up to accept Direct Debit before the first scheduled Direct Debit. Please check with the financial institution where the account is held.
31.5.2 Ensuring there is enough money in the nominated account on the Direct Debit due date and up to 5 business days following. Please note there may be a delay in the processing of Direct Debit if there is a public holiday on the scheduled date of Direct Debit.
31.5.3 If the nominated account does not allow a payment, such as where the account does not have enough money in it or you are over your credit limit, Swim School will require you to make a manual payment online or at the Centre on your next visit.
31.6 Two outstanding failed direct debit payments will result in termination of membership.
31.7 All bank fees and associated charges are the responsibility of the member.
31.7.1 Notifying the Inner West Aquatic Centre of a change of bank details or changing them in the online portal.

Inner West Aquatics and Recreation take pride in delivering exceptional services and maintaining high standards for all users. To ensure a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable environment for everyone, all patrons must adhere to the following mandatory Rules and Regulations.

Patrons should have respect and consideration for each other while on the facilities premises. Any internal signage displayed around the centre form part of the patron rules and regulations. If a patron is seen to be in breach of the centre rules and regulations, management reserves the right to remove them from the premises. Management also reserves the right to take further action if deemed appropriate including cancellation of membership.

Permitted swimwear

Patrons must be suitably clothed always while on the facility premises. All swimmers must wear bathing suits in the pool for pool hygiene and safety reasons. • Swim jammers
  • Board shorts
  • Short and long sleeve rash guards
  • Wetsuits

Management reserve the right to refuse entry to patrons wearing apparel deemed inappropriate.

Pools

All patrons must comply with staff directions, conditions of entry and all rules displayed at the facility entrance and throughout the aquatic centre.

Before entering any pool, swimmers are required to shower thoroughly to maintain water quality and hygiene standards.

Running, pushing, rough play, and horseplay are strictly prohibited in all pool areas including the deck, changerooms, and surrounding facilities. Diving, jumping, or entering the water in an unsafe manner is also prohibited and staff members have the authority to issue warnings or remove individuals from the facility for behaviour that compromises safety or disrupts the enjoyment of other patrons.

Food and beverages are prohibited in all pool areas, though drinking water in closed, shatterproof containers is permitted. No glass containers.

Inflatable pool toys, surfboards, large recreational equipment, or other similar items are not permitted in our facilities.

Pool capacity limits apply. Staff reserve the right to limit pool access when capacity is reached, and swimmers may be asked to wait until space becomes available. These limits are determined by facility size, water depth, programmed activities, and lifeguard supervision ratios to maintain a safe aquatic environment for all participants.

Lap lane etiquette

  • Select a lane based on your ability and strokes you intend to swim (for safety reasons, some lanes indicate breaststroke is not permitted).
    • Slow: laps slower than 60 seconds.
    • Medium: approximate lap speed between 40-60 seconds.
    • Fast: laps faster than 40 seconds.
  • While swimming, keep to the left of the lane.
  • Pass a swimmer in front, by swimming past on the right.
  • Check both directions when moving across lanes.
  • When waiting at the end of the pool, keep clear of other swimmers and stay in the corners of the lane.
Pool supervision of children

Inner West Aquatics and Recreation facilities follow the Royal Life Saving Society Keep Watch at Public Pools guidelines.

Active supervision at public pools consists of four key elements:

  • Be Prepared: Ensure you have everything you need before getting into the water, such as towels and dry clothes.
  • Be Close: Always be within arms' reach of your child.
  • All of Your Attention: Focus all of your attention on your child and get into the pool and talk and play with them.
  • All of the Time: You should never leave your child alone in the water, nor should they be left in the care of an older child or with the assumption that your responsibility diminishes due to the presence of lifeguards.

Children aged 14 years and under must be supervised by a parent or a guardian who is 16 years or older when using the pool.

All patrons must follow the below supervision guidelines:

0-5 year olds and non-swimmers:

Stay within arms' reach

Maximum 1 parent/guardian to 2 children

6-10 year olds and weak swimmers:

Be close, be prepared & maintain constant visual contact

Maximum 1 parent/guardian to 4 children

11-14 year olds:

Maintain visual contact

Parents/guardians must use their knowledge of the child’s swimming ability to determine the level of accompaniment required.

Distractions are dangerous

Avoid mobile phones and other distractions that interrupt supervision

The behaviour and safety of any child is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian. Lifeguards are an important safety feature but cannot and do not replace the close supervision of children.
The parent or guardian is liable for any damage caused by the child whilst on the premises.
Management reserves the right to refuse entry to children at its discretion.

Gym access for children

Children under 13 years of age are not allowed in the gym unless participating in a supervised program.

Children aged 13 to 16 may use the gym but must be supervised at all times by a parent or responsible guardian aged 16 or over, unless they are participating in a group fitness class.

Children over 13 years but under 16 may do body weight exercises and use cardio equipment. They are not permitted to do weightlifting, use pin loaded equipment, or participate in weightlifting group exercise classes.

The behaviour and safety of any child in our facilities is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian. The parent or guardian is liable for any damage caused by the child whilst on the premises.

Management reserves the right to refuse entry to children at its discretion.

Gym equipment

All gym users must bring a towel when attending the gym. Please speak to our staff if you have forgotten your towel.

Please wipe down equipment before and after use with the sanitizing products provided.

All equipment must be replaced after use, including placing weights back on the correct rack after use.
If participating in group fitness class, any equipment used must be placed back in its designated storage area prior to leaving the studio.

Our gym facilities are shared spaces, please respect others waiting to use equipment – no long rests between sets and one piece of equipment at a time (no supersets). Time limits  may be placed on the use of equipment during peak periods.

Group fitness classes

No entry will be permitted into a group fitness class later than 5 minutes after its commencement.

Bookings are essential for group fitness classes. Bookings open 5 days and 1 hour prior to the class start time.

If you cannot make a class, you must cancel at least 60 minutes prior. Regularly failing to cancel classes may result in restrictions being applied. If you are a visit pass holder, a visit will be deducted. If you are a casual paying customer, you will forfeit the fee in full.

We ask that you please adhere to the below guidelines to ensure classes are safe, flow effectively, and are enjoyable for all participants:

  • Please visit reception on arrival to receive a ticket for entry into your class

Lockers

Lockers are provided for patrons to use at their own risk. While all care is taken to ensure safety of belongings, the facility will not be held liable for any loss, damage or theft of belongings placed in the lockers or brought onto the premises.

No bags are permitted on the gym floor. Bags must be stored in the lockers or shelves provided to prevent hazards on the gym floor.
