Our classes

Our centres offer a wide range of challenging and fun classes, led by expert instructors, to motivate and inspire you to achieve your goals.

Group fitness classes are a great way to help you get stronger, fitter, and feeling great in a supportive and friendly environment. 

With aqua, mind and body, high intensity, wellness, seniors’ and gentle exercise classes, and our Fit 30 short sharp half hour sessions, there is a class for every age, fitness level, and busy lifestyle. 

For a truly unique experience, join us each summer season at Dawn Fraser Baths for Wellness by the Water, yoga and meditation classes held on our waterside deck with spectacular harbour views. Visit our Wellness by the Water page for more information.

Classes

All our group fitness classes run for 55 minutes unless otherwise specified.

We offer Aquarobics classes several times per week with classes ranging from shallow water and deep water, as well as classes specially designed for seniors, people doing rehab, and those seeking gentle exercise.

Classes are held in indoor and outdoor pools. All pools are heated.

There is no complicated choreography, just motivation, great music and good fun.
Aqua aerobics is an impact free exercise targeting:

  • balance
  • agility
  • mobility
  • posture
  • increased strength
  • toning and
  • cardio component for general fitness benefits.

Shallow Water (SW) Aqua

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre, Ashfield Aquatic Centre, Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre, and Fanny Durack Aquatic Centre (summer only)

A workout in pool utilising the water and the pool bottom as resistance to increase cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, definition and flexibility. Aqua fitness equipment may be used to enhance these benefits. Suitable for all. Classes run in both indoor and outdoor pools.

Deep Water (DW) Aqua

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre, Ashfield Aquatic Centre, Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

A great workout in deep water. Buoyancy belts may be used for floatation and back support. This is a non-impact class delivering similar benefits to shallow water Aqua. Suitable for all fitness levels, however, water confidence is required. All classes at Ashfield Aquatic Centre and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre are in outdoor pools. Participants are encouraged to wear sunscreen, a hat, and sun protective swimwear. Classes at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre are indoors.

Seniors and Gentle Aqua

Available at Ashfield Aquatic Centre and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

Designed for seniors, those with mobility issues, and anyone requiring a lower-intensity workout, this 45-minute class works at a lighter pace. Gentle exercise in the water perfect for beginners, those rehabilitating injuries, managing arthritis, or anyone who doesn't feel confident in deep water. A great way to begin or enhance an existing exercise program.

Light Pace Aqua

Available at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

Gentle exercise in the water for beginners, those rehabilitating injuries, with arthritis or those who don’t feel confident in deep water. A great way to begin or enhance an existing exercise program. Duration is 45 minutes.

Power Aqua

Available at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

A high intensity cardio workout that's sure to make you sweat, even in the water.  

Aqua Zumba

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre

This high-energy aquatic workout fuses South American Zumba rhythm and dance steps with a pool party. Aqua Zumba gives participants all the benefits of a challenging and fun workout – in the water!

Warm Water Aqua

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre

Warm water aqua involves gentle exercise conducted in a shallow heated pool to help regain or enhance physical wellbeing. Exercises are a series of gentle movements performed in a warm water pool. Class runs for 45 minutes and is suitable for all levels.

Warm Water Aqua Stretch

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre

Get the benefits of moving through a range of stretches targeting a variety of areas on your body, surrounded by water, which offers resistance and support to your movements. This class is designed to improve flexibility, range of motion, and balance. Perfect for non-exercisers or anyone looking for a friendly introduction to group exercise.

BodyBalance

Available at Ashfield Aquatic Centre and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

Bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga poses, elements of Tai Chi and Pilates to an inspiring soundtrack. Ideal for anyone and everyone. 

BodyCombat

Available at Ashfield Aquatic Centre and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

Punch and kick your way to fitness! This high-energy martial arts inspired workout is non-contact with no complex moves to master. Release stress, feel powerful and enjoy that post-workout rush. 

BodyPump

Available at Ashfield Aquatic Centre and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

This total body barbell workout will tone all major muscle groups, increase core strength, improve bone health and leave you feeling strong. 

RPM

Available at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

RPM is an indoor cycling workout where you control the intensity. It’s fun, low impact and a boost for your cardio fitness.  Suitable for all.
 

Bootcamp

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre

Resembling a military boot camp, this is a rigorous group fitness session. Expect a combination of circuits, interval, cardiovascular and strength training including boxing and sprints. 

Boxing

Available at Ashfield Aquatic Centre, and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

An energising boxing class that delivers a great workout every time. Sessions may focus on technique, footwork, and proper form, or emphasize high-intensity combinations and conditioning. Whether you're learning the fundamentals or working up a sweat with pad work and drills, you'll build strength, improve cardiovascular fitness, and boost coordination. All fitness levels welcome—no prior boxing experience required.

Cardio Boxing

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre, Ashfield Aquatic Centre, and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

A stimulating and effective workout that keeps you moving. This is the perfect class to relieve stress and improve your overall fitness.  Important note - this class occurs outdoors at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre. Participants are encouraged to wear sunscreen, a hat, and sun-protective clothing.

Cycle

Available at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

Road-cycling without the traffic! Get ready for hill climbs, sprints and endurance runs with a motivating playlist. Cycle will strengthen muscles from your legs to your core, work your heart rate and enhance your stamina – all while being kind on joints.

HCT (Hard Core Training)

Available at Ashfield Aquatic Centre and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

A high intensity class combining strength and cardio exercises. Guaranteed to lift your heart rate and make you sweat!

Kettlebells

Available at Ashfield Aquatic Centre

A full body strength and conditioning class using kettlebells. This workout will build strength, improve endurance, and enhance overall fitness. Suitable for all fitness levels.

Power Bar

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre

A cross-training workout using cardiovascular, bodyweight and weighted exercises to add variety to your routine and keep your body guessing. This workout will get you sweating to a high energy soundtrack.

Strength on the Ball

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre

An invigorating and dynamic fitness class using swiss balls to deliver a full-body workout like no other. This high-energy session combines strength training exercises with the stability and challenge of the swiss ball to target and tone your muscles from head to toe.

Strength and Aerobics

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre

A fun class that mixes rhythmic aerobic exercise and strength training routines using dumbbells. Great for the mind and the body it will put a smile on your face as you move to motivating beats. This class is for anyone at any level.

Pilates

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre, Ashfield Aquatic Centre, and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

A low-intensity full-body workout focusing on core strength and flexibility. Pilates is series of exercises designed to improve posture, restore balance, align the body, and relieve muscular tension. Suitable for all.

Power Pilates

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre, Ashfield Aquatic Centre, and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

Take your Pilates to the next level. This class combines Pilates principles with the use of equipment and a wide range of movements to improve strength, endurance and flexibility. An intermediate level of Pilates experience is recommended.

Yoga (Ashtanga)

Available at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

Ashtanga is a dynamic and athletic form of hatha yoga, made up of six series or levels, with a fixed order of postures. This 90-minute practice improves flexibility, breathing, and balance and endurance.

Yoga (Hatha)

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre, Ashfield Aquatic Centre, and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre, and Dawn Fraser Baths (summer only)

Hatha yoga focuses on posture and breathing techniques to channel vital energy sources. The practice involves breath, body, and mind, suitable for people of all ages and physical conditions.

Yoga (Vinyasa)

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre, Ashfield Aquatic Centre, and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

Vinyasa means “breath synchronised with movement”. In this style of yoga, poses flow together smoothly with a focus on breath. Vinyasa yoga is alignment orientated to maximise benefits and minimise the possibility of injury. Suitable for everyone.  

Fusion Yoga

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre and Ashfield Aquatic Centre

Using elements of serval yoga styles and focusing on alignment this class features poses to suit all abilities. Provides a great foundation for all yoga practice and is a great stress management tool.

Power Yoga

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre

Power Yoga is a dynamic, fitness-based vinyasa class that builds strength, flexibility, and endurance. This energetic workout moves through challenging sequences at a vigorous pace, linking breath with movement. Suitable for those with previous yoga experience or a good fitness base seeking an athletic, full-body workout.

Yoga

Available at Ashfield Aquatic Centre

A dynamic yoga class that draws from a varied combination of different yoga styles. Each session offers a balanced blend that may include flowing sequences, strength-building poses, flexibility work, and relaxation techniques. Whether you're looking to build strength, improve flexibility, reduce stress, or simply move mindfully, this class adapts to provide a well-rounded practice. Suitable for all levels.

Stretch

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre

A comprehensive class to help improve your range of movement and iron out any stiffness you may have from exercise or  daily life. A range of floor work provided with expert guidance to help you get the most out of your stretching.

Tai Chi

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre, Ashfield Aquatic Centre, Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre, and Fanny Durack Aquatic Centre (summer only)

Tai chi is low impact and puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it generally safe for all ages and fitness levels. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing.

Classes run at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre during winter and move to Fanny Durack Aquatic Centre over the summer.

Meditation

Available at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

A guided meditation class designed to reduce stress, calm the mind, and promote mental clarity. Through breathing techniques and mindfulness practices, you'll learn to quiet mental chatter, release tension, and cultivate inner peace. Suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to experienced meditators seeking community support in their practice.

Move Well

Available at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

Decrease your risk of injuries and improve flexibility, posture and physical performance. This is a hands-on class, using breath, gentle stretching methods and foam rolling to reconnect you with your body and target tight muscles. Suitable for everyone.

Bellydance

Available at Ashfield Aquatic Centre

Fun and high energy, this belly dance class welcomes all levels from beginners to advanced. Learn flowing movements, shimmies, and isolations while building core strength, improving flexibility, and boosting cardiovascular fitness. No dance experience necessary—this supportive environment encourages self-expression and confidence while you enjoy a full-body workout that feels more like a celebration than exercise.

Dance

Join this class to learn different dance styles! In this class, you will be introduced to a new dance style and a singular choreography per class, learning it one step at a time. Join the fun! All levels welcomed.

Zumba

We offer a wide variety of convenient 30-minute classes at our centres, perfect for busy schedules. These time-efficient workouts deliver maximum results in minimum time, making it easier to fit exercise into your day.

Fit 30 Aqua Running

This is a 30-minute version of our Aqua Running class, a challenging but fun class that replicates the movements we make while running, but with the assistance of water in the pool. Low impact, high on strength, muscular toning and a hard workout for the cardiovascular system.

Fit 30 Bootcamp

Available at Ashfield Aquatic Centre

This is a 30-minute version of our Bootcamp class, which is a rigorous group fitness session resembling a military bootcamp. Fit 30 HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre, Ashfield Aquatic Centre, and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) delivers maximum results in minimum time through short bursts of intense exercise followed by brief recovery periods. These dynamic classes combine cardio and strength exercises to boost metabolism, burn calories, and improve cardiovascular fitness. Expect a challenging, sweat-inducing workout that continues burning calories long after class ends.

Fit 30 RPM

Available at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

This is a 30-minute version of our RPM class, an indoor cycling workout where you control the intensity. It’s fun, low impact and a boost for your cardio fitness.

Fit 30 Strength and Core

A 30-minute class focussing on mobility and flexibility. Perfect for recovery days or before or after a workout. Suitable for everyone.

Fit 30 Seniors

Available at Ashfield Aquatic Centre

A fun, 30-minute low to moderate intensity class perfect for non-exercisers and beginners. The shorter session is ideal for those new to fitness or easing back into exercise. This gentle, supportive class helps you build confidence and enjoy movement at your own pace in a welcoming environment.

Fit 30 Active Seniors

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre

A fun, low to moderate intensity class ideal for beginners and those seeking a gentler workout. This class is a 30-minute version of our Active Seniors class and a great introduction to group fitness for non-exercisers.

Fit 30 HIIT HIT (Seniors)

High Intensity Interval Training (HIT HIIT) for seniors delivers effective results through alternating periods of moderate activity and rest. These energizing classes combine low-impact cardio and strength exercises to support heart health, maintain muscle tone, and improve balance. All exercises are easily modified to suit individual abilities. Expect an invigorating workout that builds stamina and supports independence. 

We offer specialised classes for seniors at our centres, with no minimum age to participate. These classes are ideal for anyone seeking gentle exercise, including those with mobility issues, managing health conditions, or preferring a lighter-paced workout as well as more athletic types looking to maintain strength and fitness in a supportive environment.

Active Seniors

Available at Ashfield Aquatic Centre and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

A fun, low to moderate intensity class ideal for beginners and those seeking a gentler workout. This welcoming class provides a supportive space to ease into fitness, build confidence, and enjoy movement at your own pace. Perfect for non-exercisers or anyone looking for a gentle introduction to group exercise.

Strong Seniors

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre, Ashfield Aquatic Centre, and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

A combination of cardiovascular and resistance training with a balance component. Designed specifically for seniors to assist with bone density, balance and increasing overall fitness levels. Some fit ball, free weights or circuit weights included. At Leichhardt this class also includes a cycle component.

Seniors Total Wellbeing

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre

A unique blend of strength, aerobics, balance, and flexibility, Seniors Total Wellbeing delivers a total-body conditioning experience with a special focus on balance and conditioning, whilst maintaining an achievable pace.

Total Body Seniors

Available at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre

This class is a total body experience, beginning with a strength and conditioning workout followed by a core and a stretch component.  

Zumba Gold

Available at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre

Perfect for adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower- intensity. This class focuses on balance, range of motion, and coordination. Come ready to sweat and prepare to leave empowered and feeling strong. The class focuses on all elements of fitness: cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, flexibility, and balance.
