Supporting projects that build connection, inclusion, and wellbeing in the Inner West.
Community wellbeing grants support projects that address local issues; promote social justice; enhance wellbeing; strengthen the sustainability and capacity of Inner West community and foster inclusion, equity and social connection. Here are the successful projects for 2025 and 2026.

2025 Community Wellbeing Grants

Projects being delivered during 2025 and 2026:

Project: Upskill
Funding: $5,000
Impact: Training sessions for young people aged 16–25 with mental health challenges to build skills and confidence for employment, plus ongoing support through Headspace’s Work and Study Program.

Project: Night at the Museum – A Queer Youth Celebration
Funding: $5,000
Impact: Free, inclusive event for 400 LGBTQIA+ young people featuring exhibitions, performances, and sensory-friendly spaces to foster pride, creativity, and social connection.

Project: Laneway Market for Trans Awareness Week and Mardi Gras
Funding: $5,000
Impact: Community markets celebrating trans and gender diverse culture with stalls, art spaces, and activities, creating affirming spaces and reviving Inner West’s rich queer history.

Project: Art for Wellbeing
Funding: $5,000
Impact: Art therapy sessions for migrant and refugee women to improve mental health, self-esteem, and community connection without language barriers.

Project: Voices of the Inner West – Seniors Digital Radio and Podcast Initiative
Funding: $5,000
Impact: Empowering older residents to create podcasts and radio content, building skills, confidence, and social inclusion through storytelling and media engagement.

Project: Little Voices Big Community
Funding: $1,760
Impact: Weekly music sessions for children aged 0–5 and their carers to support early development, reduce isolation, and strengthen family and community bonds.

 

Project: DadLAN Social Community Event
Funding: $4,692
Impact: Regular events and online spaces for dads to combat loneliness, improve mental health, and build strong local connections.

Project: Tao Hua Yuan – Wellbeing for Gender Diverse Chinese in Inner West
Funding: $5,000
Impact: Art therapy workshops to support LGBTQIA+ Chinese community and reduce isolation.

Project: Essential Dental and Medical Treatment for Women Recovering from Homelessness
Funding: $5,000
Impact: Urgent medical care for women in public housing who can’t access treatment.

Project: The Butterfly Effect by Enlighten Education
Funding: $5,000
Impact: Full-day program for teenage girls to build confidence, resilience, and wellbeing.

Project: September Social – Championing LGBTQIA+ Youth
Funding: $5,000
Impact: Free, safe event for LGBTQIA+ youth with activities, performers, and social spaces.

Project: Additional Mental Health Appointments
Funding: $5,000
Impact: Extra counselling and psychology sessions for young people who’ve experienced trauma.

Project: Social Community Events for Dads
Funding: $4,469
Impact: Local social spaces to fight loneliness and improve mental health for fathers

Project: Building Healthy, Resilient Young Males

Impact: Mentoring program to improve mental health and decision-making for young men.

Impact: Pilot choir for people with dementia and their carers to foster joy and connection.

Project: Seniors Lifesaving Skills Refresher
