Sourcing energy from a NSW solar farm

As of July 2022, Inner West Council is supplied with 100% renewable electricity each year from Moree, Hillston and Nevertire solar farms in NSW. The over 16 million kilowatt-hours of renewable energy powers all Council facilities including aquatic centre, sportsfields, libraries and other venues.

The switch to renewable electricity reduces Council's carbon emissions by over 13,000 tonnes (CO2e) every year.

The agreement offers competitive electricity prices because a large buying group of councils purchased in bulk. This will reduce the pressure on our community facilities to manage rising, volatile electricity prices. This achievement builds on a previous success purchasing 25% renewable electricity for three years from 2019.
