Marrickville Library is hosting a range of activities to celebrate Marrickville Music Festival! Head up the road to experience some music-themed programming.
Junior Jam Sessions
11:30am & 1:00pm
Warm up your vocals and bring the family to a special session featuring all your favourite nursery rhyme bangers with the musical members of the Inner West Library storytelling team. For 0-5’s and their families.
Blues Harmonica Jam
12:30pm-1:00pm
This unique event will bring the library alive with the sound of blues harmonica. Facilitated by experienced muso Captain Bluetongue, you’ll have fun learning percussive blues techniques. Each participant will receive a free harmonica to play and take home.

Low-Key Karaoke
2:00pm-4:00pm
Sing your heart out and shine in this family-friendly karaoke session. Whether you want to celebrate good times or belt out your blues, you can drop in to sing your favourite songs in front of a supportive audience. This drop-in karaoke session is a relaxed way get into the action of Marrickville Music Festival.

Need somewhere to relax between sets? The library will be screening music documentaries from the library’s Kanopy digital collection from 10am - 4pm in our learning rooms.
10:00am - Paul Kelly: Stories of Me
An intimate portrait of our leading music icon. Paul Kelly: Stories of Me charts the remarkable life of one of Australia’s most gifted and beloved singer-songwriters.
11:30am - Last shop standing: the rise, fall and rebirth of the independent record shop
Inspired by the book of the same name by Graham Jones, the film charts the rapid rise of record shops in the 1960s, 70s and 80's, the influence of the chart, the underhand deals, the demise of vinyl and rise of the CD as well as new technologies.
12:45pm - Murundak – songs of freedom: following the Black Arm Band and their aboriginal protest music
Dive into the heart of Aboriginal protest music with The Black Arm Band, featuring some of Australia’s finest Indigenous musicians, as they take to the road with their songs of resistance and freedom.
2:15pm - Underground Chinese Hip-Hop: The Rap Pioneers of China
A fascinating documentary portrait of this nascent musical revolution following pioneering rapper MC Weber as he spearheads the creation of rap music in China.
3:15pm - I Used to Be Normal: A Boyband Fangirl Story
From The Beatles, to the Backstreet Boys and One Direction, this doco will take you back to the fun, fantasy and feelings of your teenage years.
