The Living Arts team has a couple of arts infused health and wellbeing opportunities available: Survival Guide for Emerging Artists is a free professional development program focusing on mental health, mentorship and the business of being an artist. Targeting emerging artists from the performing arts sector, Survival Guide aims to demystify what it means to create a supported and sustainable arts practice. More info is available here Press Play is a four week program to build a mentally healthy culture, practice, and life in the arts industry funded by Inner West Council. Normally $400, this program has been funded by Council, offering a subsidised workshop fee of $55 (inc GST) for four 90-minute workshops with talented creative facilitators and a creative kit shipped to your door. Register here Council also has a range of creative opportunities currently calling for applications: Newtown ArtSeat is a permanent structure located in a highly visible location in Newtown. The unit combines public seating, artwork and lighting and is available to emerging and established artists, cultural workers and organisations. Chrissie Cotter Gallery is a free gallery space to successful applicants. Council has hosted exhibitions at the gallery for over 20 years. Over this time, hundreds of Inner West emerging and established artists, cultural workers and organisations have taken up the opportunity to exhibit their work. Both close Monday 11 October, 4pm The Whites Creek Cottage Subsidised Studio Program is a 12 month residency offering two studio spaces in the Whites Creek Cottage at a low cost. Studios are for visual artists and/ or craftspeople who have a focus on sustainability in their practice. Closing Thursday 14 October, 4pm. |
