Video Workshop: How to Document Your Artwork

A video workshop for artists who want to learn how to document their work on video.

This one-day workshop introduces artists to the basics of documenting their own artwork on video. Led by artist and videographer Jade Boyd of Aether Video, the workshop takes place at Our Neon Foe, a gallery and studio space in Leichhardt.

Open to all levels, the workshop explores practical approaches to filming artwork across different forms—whether static (painting, drawing, sculpture) or time-based (installation, video, audio, performance). Participants will gain hands-on experience with camera operation, audio recording, composition, gimbal use, and basic editing, while developing their own visual approach to documenting their work.

With shared equipment and a collaborative learning environment, the workshop lowers barriers to participation and helps artists develop the skills needed to professionally document their practice.

What you will learn:

  • Camera operation: shared equipment (OR BYO)
  • Basic video editing skills
  • Audio recording and gimbal use
  • Your own visual approach to documenting your work
