As official ANZAC Day events focus on militarism and war, Marrickville Peace Group's event seeks to shift that focus onto the obvious benefits of peace at Richardson's Lookout – where the "Peace Tree", supplied by the former Marrickville Council, was planted on ANZAC Day in 2016.
As the Peace Tree grows, so too do our hopes for a peaceful future. However, in the current geopolitical environment, the reality is that prospects for peace are receding. Calling for peace has never been more urgent than it is now.
