Inner West Council’s first Local Matters Forum last night was enthusiastically embraced by local Marrickville residents.

The heritage restoration of Dawn Fraser Baths has won the prestigious President’s Prize at the 28th annual National Trust (NSW) Heritage Awards.

At last night’s Inner West Council meeting, it was resolved to press ahead with the construction of a promised new Skate Plaza in Lilyfield. Council voted 14 to 1 in favour of the Skate Plaza. However, the owners of the Le Montage wedding venue are not prepared to abide by the democratic process and have threatened to challenge the decision in court.

Inner West Council will issue a demolition order on the derelict and unsafe Balmain Leagues Club if the NSW Government fails to act to ensure the site is safe.

Inclusive playgrounds will be established in all five wards of Inner West Council local government area.

Today Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne along with local sporting club officials opened the first stage of the upgraded Tempe Reserve sporting grounds.

In anticipation of a NSW Government funding commitment to upgrade Leichhardt Oval, Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne, Councillor Philippa Scott and Balmain Tigers legend Steve Roach have today put forward a positive plan for what the upgrade to the Eighth Wonder of the World should include.

Inner West Council is on track to exceed its previous record of tree planting in parks and streets across the area. Since a new programme of tree plantings began in 2020, more than 3200 mature trees have so far been planted.
