Inner West Council is now powered by 100% renewable electricity following a landmark energy deal between 25 councils and three NSW solar farms. The agreement, brokered between Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC) and retailer ZEN energy, supplies Inner West with renewable power from Moree, Hilston and Nevertire solar farms.
Council declared a Climate Emergency in 2019 and adopted a Climate and Renewables Strategy with aims to become carbon neutral and 100% renewable for electricity by 2025. This energy agreement delivers on the renewable energy target early and will more than halve Council's current carbon footprint.
