Inner West Council is undertaking a substantial part of the core area of the Ashfield town centre and upgrading.
What will be upgraded
The core area comprises:
- Hercules Street
- The Esplanade
- Markham Place, and
- Brown Street.
The upgrade includes:
- Wider footpaths with new paving
- New energy efficient lighting installed on multi-function poles
- Street furniture including seats, bins, bike racks and bubbler
- New trees and landscaping
- Removal of old bus shelters and construction of a new shelter on Brown Street
- New deck and elevated walkway along the Esplanade
