newlocalwork

New flights of photo-work by 44's artists in residence David Watson and Denise Corrigan.

Exhibition across two weekends only! 2–3 May and 9–10 May, 11am to 5pm. Opening event at 4pm, Saturday 2 May.

Corrigan's Track and Field is a series of photo-collages (detail featured here) exploring the layered conundrums of her community's much-loved local oval, King George Park.

Watson's Moth-o-tropolis creates an airport-like zone: an imagined instrastructure project for our most frequent flyers (local lepidoptera!) shot largely on the kitchen sink.

In mounting locally-inflected exhibitions, 44 – once the A.E. Harding & Sons shopfittings factory – seeks to nurture community through art. All proceeds from newlocalwork will be donated to Indigenous Literacy Foundation and to Callan Park Bushcare.

An abstract artwork: an overhead photograph of stripes painted on a lawn, draped with three feathers.
