Urban Ecology

Curious about plants, wildlife and how we can make more space for nature in the Inner West? Council’s Urban Ecology team will be on hand to share information about local projects, Bushcare, native plants and community nurseries.

Learn about the Gunggung Gunya / Frogs Come Home creek revitalisation project, discover Council’s Verge Garden program and get involved in a nature strip makeover.

PRCG 

Established in 2008, the Parramatta River Catchment Group (PRCG) brings together councils, government organisations, and community groups with a shared goal of improving the Parramatta River and its catchment. The PRCG supports its members to exchange information, coordinate activities, and take action across the region. Through its Our Living River initiative, the PRCG has helped improve water quality, establish swimming sites along the Parramatta River, and restore habitat for local wildlife.

Community involvement plays an important role in creating a healthier river. Visit the PRCG stall to learn more about the challenges facing the catchment, share your ideas, and discover ways you can help care for the Parramatta River.

Resource Recovery

Discover practical ways to reduce waste and make the most of Council’s reuse, recycling and resource recovery services. Try your hand at a waste-sorting game, learn about FOGO and composting, and find out about services including soft plastics and polystyrene recycling, doorstep collections and the Reuse and Repair Map.

Come along with your recycling questions and discover ways to keep more resources out of landfill.

Sustainability

The Urban Beekeepers of the Inner West Inc is a not-for-profit club which promotes urban beekeeping and provides education and assistance to inner west beekeepers. We encourage beekeeping for plant pollination and the mental and physical wellbeing that it brings to beekeepers.

Pocket City Farms is a not-for-profit urban farm growing produce in Camperdown using regenerative farming practices. Alongside our vegetables, herbs and flowers, we offer workshops, school programs, corporate volunteering and community events, using food to connect people with nature, sustainability and each other. Seaglass artworks from Sydney Harbour 

"The unique seaglass that I use in my artworks have been naturally tumbled and frosted by the sea over many decades. I handpick my finds by snorkelling and beachcombing around the many Sydney Harbour beaches and coves. There is a little bit of Sydney Harbour history in every photo I take and every artwork I make.

I beachcomb and snorkel to collect broken glass that has been discarded into Sydney Harbour over the last few decades and beyond. There is a lot of seaglass in our harbour from broken bottles, glassware and even tv screens and car windscreens I retrieve it to reuse it and make artworks with the variety of colours and textures that I find." - artist Maureen Myer

Koshari is an iconic vegan Egyptian vegan street food dish. An unusual combination, Koshari mixes lentils, pasta, and rice into a single dish topped with chickpeas, crispy onion rings and a fragrant tomato salsa. 

Koshari Korner started when Walid migrated to Australia and realised that Egyptian food, and particularly the iconic Koshari dish missing from the street food scene in Sydney. A marine engineer by trade, he went on to engineer the dish for Sydney’s tastebuds with his late grandmother’s recipe in mind.

Egyptians from all walks of life can usually be found gathered at Koshari carts on every corner of Egypt’s bustling streets digging into the hearty meal. Over the past three years, Sydney siders have warmed up to the hearty dish at Koshari Korner’s pop up stalls across various events and markets in Sydney and the Central Coast.
