GreenWay Public Art

Creating meaningful, accessible artworks that reflect community stories and enrich the Inner West’s public spaces.

The GreenWay is an environmental and active-travel corridor linking the Cooks River at Earlwood with the Parramatta River at Iron Cove. This landmark transformation of the Inner West offers a continuous 6km green pathway for walking, cycling, and connecting with nature.

The GreenWay Public Art Program presents eight new, site-specific artworks by Carla Gottgens, James Gulliver Hancock, OxKing, Ben Muir, Mark O’Ryan, Jasmin Sarin, Dr. Floria Tosca, and James Voller. Integrated throughout the corridor, these works enrich the experience of moving through the landscape and invite deeper connection to place—engaging with local stories, cultural heritage, diverse communities, and the surrounding ecosystems. The artists draw inspiration from the natural environment, rail history, and native flora and fauna.

The artworks were selected through a two-stage open EOI process. Hundreds of applications were shortlisted, with finalists funded to develop detailed designs before final selection. The artworks selected excelled in responding to site and place, demonstrating artistic excellence, and showing a strong willingness to collaborate with the local community.
