Mel Brown presents her gripping memoir Shades of Me

We are delighted to invite you to a captivating talk featuring Ngunnawal woman Mel Brown, the author of Shades of Me. Joining her in conversation will be Wiradjuri woman Peta-Joy Williams.

Shades of Me is Mel’s gripping memoir of self-discovery and cultural awakening. Growing up white, Mel discovered her Aboriginal heritage and the challenges that came with it. Her story is one of resilience and redefining identity.

Mel Brown is an acclaimed author, artist, and cultural advocate. With a Masters in Indigenous Healing and Trauma, she brings years of experience working with children at risk and is a national and international expert in cultural competency and lateral violence.

Peta-Joy Williams is a talented artist and Cultural Arts Teacher at Eora College. She has a deep connection to both inland and saltwater cultures, and her custom Aboriginal artworks are celebrated for their beauty and cultural significance.
