Dear library community,
You may be aware that there are renovation works underway at Balmain Town Hall, which includes Balmain Library.
Council has allocated $4 million to restore and future proof this beautiful building. We have minimised the disruption to date but will have to close the library from 1 July and we anticipate the works on the Library and Town Hall will be completed in early August.
As you would appreciate, the library is an old building. Some of the renovation involves fixing long term damp and mould problems as well as repainting, creating a more accessible entry, recarpeting and installation of new shelves and furniture to make the library a better facility for our community.
The new look library will provide a fresher, more enjoyable space so please be patient and we will keep you updated.
