Celebrate the holidays without the waste

Festive table decorations Tim Douglas

Gathering with friends and family over the holidays? Challenge yourself to reduce or limit your waste.

  • Give waste-free gifts: homemade vouchers or bought experiences make great gifts.
  • Food in bellies, not bins! Reinvigorate, share or donate leftovers to minimise festive food waste.
  • Make wrapping part of the gift: wrapping gifts in fabric is a great way to reduce waste. Try a gorgeous scarf, cute tea towel or pillowcase.
  • Give nature a gift: a native plant benefits the receiver and nature.
  • Dress the table: buy second hand crockery rather than disposables to give your table an extra bit of waste-free joy.
  • Re-love the perfect party outfit: expand your wardrobe without breaking the bank by buying second hand or renting
