Eda Gunaydin and Eleanor Kirk have been awarded the 2024 Inner West Writers in Residence. Both will be based at Writing NSW in Callan Park, Lilyfield, from 22 January to 31 July 2024.
Eda Gunaydin is a Turkish-Australian essayist and researcher. Her debut essay collection Root & Branch: Essays on Inheritance won the 2023 Victorian Premier's Literary Award for Non-Fiction. Her essays and short fiction have been published in HEAT, Sydney Review of Books, Meanjin, and elsewhere. Her writing practice focuses on creative non-fiction and explores themes including class and class mobility; diaspora and migration; and intergenerational trauma. Read more.
The Inner West Writer in Residence program provides two emerging local writers a studio space, stipend and professional development opportunities for a 6-month period. The program is a collaboration between Inner West Council and Writing NSW.
Cultural Connections Program kicks off
Excitingly, the first Cultural Connections funded project launches this month the Stale Biskitz 20 Year Anniversary Jam. A number of workshops will be available, followed by a 1 v 1 battle and showcase of the crews 20 year contribution to the street dance community in Australia. Cultural Connections is a new Council program showcasing diverse representation in the arts.
