Year in review 2023 has been a big year with lots of amazing art! Council's Living Arts team has been proud to collaborate with creatives, arts organisations and communities to create wonderful outcomes for all to enjoy. We've provided over 2,000 hours of free space with the introduction of the Creative Use of Council Venues pilot program; commissioned over 100 artists through EDGE; and introduced Cultural Connections a new stream of funding for diverse communities. We've also had 20 Perfect Match street artworks audio described - a great access initiative; announced a new writers residency in partnership with Writers NSW; supported artist studios and artist run initiatives to open the doors for everyone to enjoy as part of Creative Trails and developed the Arts and Music Recovery Plan. What's in store for 2024 In partnership with the Biennale of Sydney we are going to breathe life, imagination and creativity into the White Bay Power Station and Petersham Town Hall for EDGE Inner West with local art. 20 Perfect Match artworks will be commissioned and audio described, and Cultural Connections funding recipients will be supported in the delivery of their programming across the Inner West. 17 exhibitions will be hosted at Chrissie Cotter Gallery and five artists will be showcased at the Newtown ArtSeat. Eight new public artworks will be installed along the GreenWay. We will continue to collaborate with artists, stakeholders and partners to deliver outcomes from the Arts and Music Recovery, Disability Inclusion and Reconciliation Action Plans. Our first newsletter for 2024 will be 7 February - we wish you all the best for 2024 and look forward to seeing all the artistic programming you bring to 2024 - making the Inner West a fun, thought provoking and creative place to be. |
