Welcome to our last edition for 2020.
In 1993 Miriam Cabello launched MLC design studio and in 2003 partnered with other creatives to open the doors of MLC Gallery. Based in Newtown, she says the Gallery "...focuses on culturally engaging art and history projects that unearth forgotten stories".
Miriam uses the word "Artivists" to describe artists who use their work to encourage social change and confront and contest issues around the world. This is also the theme of the exhibitions she curates at the Gallery.
Miriam is working on a project called 'The Healing Hospital Arts Project – Creating Wellbeing Environments' - a partnership with Liverpool Hospital and ColourSpace. The project, a seasonal rotating exhibition space in the mental health and children's ward, aims to bring relief and enjoyment to both frontline workers and people in or visiting the Hospital, while at the same time supporting local artists. Attention artists! Council is close to releasing expressions of interest for next year's EDGE Greenway. Check Council's arts opportunities webpage in the coming weeks for more details.
And get in quick to grab a great Christmas gift from the Blooming Arts exhibition - open from Thursday through to Saturday at the Chrissie Cotter Gallery.
We wish all our readers great art making and arts enjoyment in 2021. We will be back with lots more art news and opportunities in February.
