RiverFest 2019

04 October 2019
Media Release
Riverfest, the annual community event celebrating the Parramatta River and surrounding catchment, is on again during October.

This year’s Riverfest will take place between Thursday, 17 October and Sunday, 27 October

The busy month includes these Inner West events and campaigns:

Spring Photo Call Out, until 30 November

Lovers of photography and wildlife are invited to enter Council’s nature photography competition. Tag and share native plant and animal photos on Instagram with the hashtags #InnerWestWildlife and #IWCcomp. Everyone can take part but only Inner West residents are eligible for prizes.

Aussie Backyard Bird Count, 21-27 October

Take part in the Aussie Backyard Bird Count by spending 20 minutes in a ‘green patch’ of choice, and record any birds on the ‘Aussie Bird Count’ app or website. Observers can instantly see live statistics and information on how many people are taking part and the number of birds and species counted not just across the neighbourhood but the whole of Australia. The data collected is used to understand more about the birds that live where people live.

Early Birds’ Breakfast, 26 October

Join a morning bird walk and talk at Richard Murden Reserve with Mark Fuller of Avianation followed by croissants and coffee. Mark will share his passion for birds during an exploration of a range of habitats, from bushcare sites to riverbanks.

Riverfest2019 is an initiative of The Parramatta River Catchment Group (PRCG), an alliance of councils, state government agencies and community groups – including Inner West Council – working together to clean up the Parramatta River and make it swimmable again by 2025.
