Sydney’s newest swim spot is becoming a reality

Sydney’s newest swim spot is becoming a reality with construction on the Callan Park Tidal Baths underway.

The new tidal baths will provide a free, accessible and family-friendly swimming destination for the whole Inner West community.

It will also be a spectacular addition to the Bay Run, one of Sydney’s best used recreation facilities, and a welcome attraction for users of nearby parks and sports fields.

Callan Park Tidal Baths will include:

  • Accessible ramp into the water and pathway access from Waterfront Drive
  • A play pontoon
  • Seating and showers
  • Shark barrier

This $3.8 million project is jointly funded by Inner West Council and the NSW Government Places to Swim Grant Program.

Work timing

Works will take place from late July 2026 to January 2027 (weather permitting).

Work hours

  • Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm 
  • Saturday, 8am to 1pm
