Helen McCarthy Tyalmuty: Grounded + Growing in Country

Award-winning contemporary Indigenous artist Helen McCarthy Tyalmuty presents a major solo exhibition in Rozelle.

Join us for Grounded + Growing in Country, a major solo exhibition by celebrated artist Helen McCarthy Tyalmuty.

Following her recent Alice Art Prize win, the exhibition brings together significant recent works alongside paintings connected to major prizes and exhibitions across Helen’s distinguished 30-year career.

Deeply grounded in family, community and Country, Helen’s practice carries stories passed through generations while continuing to evolve through her own intuitive and contemporary visual language.

The exhibition also celebrates the importance of intergenerational knowledge-sharing, reflected in the work of her son, emerging artist Heath Minjin Wilson, and the broader Bulgul Artists Collective.

Visitors are invited to spend time with this powerful body of work and experience stories, culture and connection to Country through one of Australia’s most respected contemporary Indigenous artists.

Exhibition dates: 5 June – 5 July
