Artist statement
The final Gadigal Wangal Wayfinding commission was designed as a mentorship to assist young Aboriginal artists move from working in 2D (paintings, and drawings) into three dimensional public artworks.
Three artists selected from a number of candidates, were mentored by Chris Edwards of the creative team Edwards Clarke. Chris showed the three mentees how to put together a public art proposal and whilst all were great submissions, the artist selected was Jasmine Sarin.
After being mentored by Chris, Jasmine's beautiful work was installed in June 2021.
