Libraries to reopen 2 June

Some Inner West Council libraries will reopen to the general public on Tuesday 2 June, in line with advice from NSW Health. This has changed due to a delay in receiving the public health order.

Library opening hours

Ashfield, Balmain, Leichhardt and Marrickville libraries will be open:

Monday to Thursday, 9am to 7.30pm
Friday, 9am to 5.30pm
Saturday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm

Vulnerable community members:

Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 9am to 10am

Haberfield and St Peters libraries are currently closed for refurbishment. Emmanuel Tsardoulias Community library at Dulwich Hill and Stanmore library remain closed due to limited capacity

COVID-19 Safety Plan for Inner West Libraries

A range of measures have been introduced to keep our community and staff safe:

  • Visitors asked to sign in on arrival
  • Patrons must practice social distancing and respect area capacities
  • Numbers limited to: Ashfield 125 people, Balmain 80 people, Leichhardt 100 people, and Marrickville 300 people
  • Limited seating
  • Newspapers, toys or robots are currently not available
  • Computers will be limited due to social distancing requirements and staff will not provide any assistance
  • Group activities or meetings have been put on hold for the moment
  • Books quarantined 24 hours
  • Enhanced cleaning and hand sanitising
  • If sick or self-isolating stay at home, your late fines will be waived
