Celebrate the reopening of Balmain Library and Town Hall

Balmain Town Hall 

We are delighted to invite you to the grand reopening of the Balmain Library and Town Hall.

The recent upgrades have enhanced the functionality and layout of the library to better meet the needs of our community, and careful restoration ensures the building can be enjoyed for generations to come.

Opening
Saturday 17 August, 11am-2pm
Balmain Town Hall
370 Darling Street, Balmain


Event highlights:

  • Heritage tours of the newly restored building
  • Music performances by the Metropolitan Orchestra's String Quartet and Balmain's own Unity Jazz Band
  • Family-friendly activities including a Spelling Bee, Guessing Competition, Robot Dance Ball, Storytelling and more
  • Workshops on maximising your free library services
  • On-the-spot library membership registration

Exciting upgrades and improvements:

  • Restoration of the heritage façade and tower stairs
  • Updated kitchenette and refreshed bathroom amenities in the Town Hall
  • Enhanced library layout with new furniture and expanded work and study areas, including additional data and power outlets
  • Modernized fittings and a new automated glass sliding door for improved access
  • A refreshed colour scheme throughout the library and Town Hall auditorium
  • New carpet throughout the library and Old Council Chamber
  • Upgraded roof, air conditioning and humidity control, electrical systems, and lighting services

The celebrations don't end here. Enjoy free events at Balmain Library throughout August and September.
