FOGO is coming!

Inner West Council is introducing a combined food organics, garden organics (FOGO) service on 9 October 2023. The service will aim to nearly halve household waste to landfill, capturing the 40% of food and garden organics currently sent to landfill in the average Inner West household.

The service will provide food recycling to 45,000 houses across the Inner West. Council will be rolling out FOGO starter kits to all residents from 25 September to help residents recycle their food scraps. The starter kits will include a benchtop bin, a pack of compostable bin liners and an information flyer that explains how to use the new service.

The FOGO service accepts all food scraps including meats, bones and dairy. So even if you have a home composting system, you'll be able to divert more organics from landfill. Food and garden organics will be recycled into compost, mulch and fertiliser for farmers in regional NSW.

To see when you'll be receiving your benchtop bin, or find out more head to Council's website.
