On Friday 22 March, students across Australia will be celebrating National Ride2School Day, by riding, scooting, skating or walking to school. This event is Australia's biggest celebration of active travel, with 350,000 students, teachers, parents and guardians discovering the joy of riding and celebrating healthy habits.
In addition to the health benefits of active travel to school by increasing physical activity, there are also environmental benefits by reducing cars on the road and the emissions they produce.
Ride2School Day aims to increase the rates of active travel in Australia, as the past 50 years has seen a sharp decline. 80% of students rode or walked to school in the 1970s, with that number dropping to 20% in the 2020s.

You can also bring your bike along to a free bike tune up event at the Inner West Sustainability Hub and attend the Guided Bike Ride along the Cooks River as part of the Wurridjal Festival.
