Serving her second term in the role, Clr Philippa Scott brings a strong record of delivering practical improvements for local residents, from securing Rozelle Parklands and re-opening Balmain West wharf, to advocating for better public transport, infrastructure and community facilities.

A local parent and former P&C president, Clr Scott said she was committed to making the Inner West a fairer, more sustainable and inclusive place to live; pinpointing council's Fairer Future policy for delivering affordable housing, better transport and public services and facilities.

Raised in the Inner West and now raising her own family here, Councillor Scott has long been involved in local community organisations and public schools, including serving as President of the Sydney Secondary College Leichhardt P&C and Kegworth Out of School Hours Care.

Clr Darcy Byrne was also re-elected Mayor of Inner West Council at Tuesday night's meeting.

Deputy Mayor Philippa Scott said:

“I love the Inner West. I’m so proud to serve as a local councillor, and of what we have achieved so far.”

"In the past year we have seen major upgrades to Henson Park and Mackey Park completed, the final stage of the renovations at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre is now underway, and upgrades at Leichhardt Oval are soon to be begin.

"We have created inclusive playgrounds across the whole of the community, and we have the GreenWay to link it all together. The GreenWay is now part of Council's new Better Connecting the Inner West (PDF, 1.72MB) transport plan.

"It's a delivery agenda we can all be proud of, and it's been done while we have balanced our budget.

“I want to thank the residents of the Inner West for electing me to represent our community. I look forward to the year ahead serving as Deputy Mayor."

Mayor Darcy Byrne said:

"Congratulations to the newly-elected Deputy Mayor Philippa Scott; and, on behalf of the community, I want to thank Philippa for the vital role she has played in leading our infrastructure program and our budgeting and finance.

"Philippa has shown excellent leadership as a local councillor serving the residents of Haberfield, Leichhardt and Annandale.

"I know Philippa will excel in the role of Deputy Mayor serving the wide Inner West community.

"I also want to pay tribute to the outgoing Deputy Mayor Chloe Smith. Her work leading our agenda on the arts and culture as well as the environment has been groundbreaking. Chloe's leadership in the Stanmore and the whole of the Inner West community has been exemplary."
