Gladstone Park Fitness and Wellbeing Outdoor Gym

We are starting work a new outdoor fitness and wellbeing gym for Gladstone Park.

Pending community feedback the facility is expected to be completed in July 2018.

Following a Council resolution in 2016, Council worked in collaboration with Balmain Hospital’s Centre for STRONG Medicine to develop an outdoor fitness and wellbeing gym for Gladstone Park.

The innovative design has a special emphasis on exercises to promote strength, balance and physical function.

The gym is accessible to everyone to support active living within the community.

After receiving feedback from nearby residents, Council has configured the layout to be as compact as possible.

The location of this new facility takes into account:

  • Providing natural shade
  • Providing winter sunlight
  • Site heritage considerations
  • Accessibility for all ages and abilities
  • Visibility of the site from other parts of the park
  • Position of the band stand and the underground reservoir
  • Other park usage - including schools and community events such as Jazz in the Park etc

Please provide feedback and let us know if you support the project or if you have comments or concerns.

Feedback: please email parks@innerwest.nsw.gov.au or call Aaron Callaghan on 9392 5634.
