Inner West Council Grants program opens soon

Thursday 29 June 2017

Inner West Council’s 2017 grants program opens on Monday 3 July. Inner west individuals and community groups are urged to apply for up to $50,000 in grant funding.

Council has combined a range of grants from the three former councils with Stronger Communities grants.

The NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund, with a dedicated $1 million in grants to be spent in Inner West Council area over three years, are worth a minimum of $10,000 to a maximum of $50,000.

Council grants provide financial and in-kind assistance of up to $7,500, and include Community Grants, Arts and Culture Grants, Local History Grants, Environment Grants, and Recreation Grants. Total grant monies for Council grants exceeds $350,000.

The grants program supports the community’s ingenuity and capabilities to promote wellbeing, social justice, sustainability, creativity, heritage and social inclusion.

Inner West Council Administrator Richard Pearson said that Inner West Council grants assist the community to devise local solutions that address local needs.

“Council recognises that the best ideas to further strengthen the inner west often come from within our diverse communities,” Mr Pearson said.

“We want to encourage innovative ideas and support new initiatives that expand opportunities for inner west residents,” Mr Pearson said.

“I look forward to seeing which projects are selected this year,” he said.
