Leichhardt Local Traffic Committee archive

The Traffic Committee makes recommendations to the Council. The recommendations are included in the Ordinary Meeting Business Paper. The decisions are included in the Ordinary Meeting minutes.

Issues to be presented to the Traffic Committee must be arranged with Council's traffic section prior to the meeting date.

Roads & Maritime Services delegates the function of the Local Traffic Committee (LTC) to Councils in NSW. 

The Traffic Committee is primarily a technical review committee, which is required to advise the Council on matters referred to it by Council officers. 

The LTC considers the technical merits for the proposal and ensure that the proposal meets current technical guidelines. 

The Traffic Committee has the following formal (voting) members:

  • One representative of Council (Chair)
  • One representative of the NSW Police
  • One representative of RMS
  • The Local State Member of Parliament or their nominee

The Traffic Committee also has the following informal (non-voting) advisors who can provide input into the process. These additional advisors are:

  • Road Safety Officer
  • Compliance Team Leader
  • Sydney Buses representative
  • Bicycle Advisory Committee representative

The Traffic Committee meets on the 1st Thursday of every month, except in January and July, at 9.30am in the Council Chambers at Leichhardt Town Hall. 

If you would like to discuss any matters with the Committee, you would be required to send your request with your telephone number to leichhardt@lmc.nsw.gov.au Att: Council’s Traffic Section or contact Kim Fagan on 9367-9222, at least two weeks in advance of the Traffic Committee meeting. 

The Traffic Section will confirm if you can attend the meeting. The Traffic Committee members may limit the number of public presenters on any particular item and/or place time limits on them.
