Clean streets

Council provides services to keep our streets clean such as street cleaning, public bins and graffiti removal. We encourage you to do your bit to keep your neighbourhood beautiful.

Avoid illegal dumping

Dumped rubbish harms the environment by polluting soils, spreading unwanted weeds and attracting vermin. Some dumped rubbish such as glass, sharp objects and hazardous materials can present a health and safety hazard. Dumped rubbish is also costly to Council and the community, since ratepayer money is spent cleaning it up. Learn what you can do about it.

Return your bottles and cans

At the end of 2017 the container deposit scheme Return and Earn started in NSW which allows you to return drink containers, keep them out of landfill and the environment and best of all receive cash back. Learn more about this scheme.

Don't dump your mattress

Did you know that a national recycling scheme for mattresses exists? Soft landing mattress recycling partners with manufacturers and retailers to recycle mattresses.

Council looks after mattresses as a bulky household item. if you want to recycle your old mattress organise a Council clean up.

Sharps Disposal

Sharps such as needles and syringes found in public places can be a health risk. If you find sharps in the public, call the Needle Cleanup Hotline on 1800 633 353.

Bin your butts

Littered cigarette butts don't look good on our streets but also endanger animals and nature. Many butts that are thrown on the ground end up in our waterways or might be mistaken for food by animals. Put your cigarette butts into the bin or look out for butt bins that many bars, restaurants and public places offer for smokers.

Bin your gum

Old chewing gum don't just stick to our shoes but also aren't a good look on our footpaths and streets. Our street cleaning team is working hard to remove them. Please be considerate to others and throw your gum into the bin.
