EDGE Spaces
EDGE Spaces animates and enlivens the historic town halls and civic spaces of the Inner West. EDGE Spaces ‘pops-up’ are for one to two months at a time inside community rooms, heritage venues and civic buildings providing critical space for artists to develop, explore and showcase new works. The program offers in-kind space to artists for the development and / or presentation of new performance events and experimentation in creative practices. These residencies allow flexibility between project needs while maintaining a space share policy to ensure best and equitable use of space and interaction of practitioners.
We encourage applications which may deliver new works in development and / or public outcomes, from any performance artform including dance, theatre, performance, live art, music, film and screen. Immersive and experiential installation artists may apply, however, may be restricted by limitations due to heritage restrictions of the building. EDGE Spaces program has accommodated the following artforms: Musical Concerts, Script Writing, Clowning/Mask, Movement/Dance, Spoken Word, New Media (Live Sampling Recording), Installation, interactive performance, Historical Music, Puppetry.
EDGE Spaces holds EOIs bi-annually in tandem with the Living Arts EDGE program of activities. Opportunities will be advertised in the Living Arts Newsletter, and on this page bi-annually.
Aside from space, successful applicants will also be awarded a payment between $1000 - $5000. The amount awarded depends on the number of people involved, as well as the duration of the space.

- Promote creative uses for civic spaces for the benefit of artists and the Inner West community.
- Support and encourage artists from diverse and marginalised communities and a range of artforms.
